About Chris Pettitt

I’m currently the server architect for Laszlo Webtop, an online desktop product that hosts a suite of collaboration and communication applications. GoWebtop is a free online service that features some of the applications that come with Laszlo Webtop. Previously I led development and implemented key elements of the architecture for VERITAS CommandCentral Availability (also known as VERITAS Cluster Management Console). Over the last several years my professional experience has been centered around Java and *nix.
In my spare time I enjoy working with open source projects and trying new technologies. I’ve contributed to git (git-p4, specifically), Rubinius, and MacPorts. I’ve also written Samsarin PHP Widget, a plugin that allows PHP code in the Wordpress sidebar. I’ve enjoyed working with Ruby for years and more recently I’ve been looking at Lua.
Outside of programming, I have a number of other interests:
- Photography
- Videos
- Go, the board game
- Playing guitar
- Learning Spanish
- Reading
